Holiday Shopping Makes Fundraising Free and Effortless

FOSTER CITY, CA--(Marketwire - November 14, 2007) - This winter holiday season it will cost consumers nothing to donate to charity some of the $42 billion* they are expected to spend online. Each time shoppers buy from any of the more than 200 Web merchants participating in Maatiam's new service, their favorite nonprofits will receive a donation.

Maatiam turns every consumer into a philanthropist, and every online purchase into a donation at no cost to the consumer.

Maatiam partners with a wide assortment merchants including many big-name retailers such as and Best Buy; travel services such as Priceline and Southwest Airlines Vacations, and specialty online stores such as Etoys, and others that sell video games, toys, electronics, books, music, clothes, bicycles, outdoor gear, fashion accessories and home furnishings.

Maatiam's merchants donate as much as 25 percent of an item's cost to a nonprofit of the shopper's choice. Shoppers can choose from any of the 800,000 U.S. registered nonprofit (501c3) organizations in the GuideStar database. Any nonprofit may join and create for free their branded page within Maatiam's community.

To make online shopping easier and faster, Maatiam automatically creates a consumer's personal shopping page when a consumer selects online stores from a list of Maatiam's more than 200 merchant partners. Maatiam's Donation Estimator lets a shopper see how much in donations their purchases generate for favorite nonprofits.

The average U.S. consumer spends $1,800 a year online,** which if spent via Maatiam's socially conscious shopping service would generate nearly $70 for their favorite charity at no cost to the consumer or the nonprofit.
