Macdonald-Cartier Bridge Rehabilitation Project: Lane Modifications During Construction Work

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 18, 2014) - Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) wishes to advise motorists that as of Monday, July 21, the configuration of traffic lanes on the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge will be modified due to the completion of the centre median and the beginning of work on the Ottawa-bound exterior lane.

Until November 2014, during rehabilitation work, the following lane reductions will take place:

  • Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (morning peak hours)-three Ottawa-bound lanes and two Gatineau-bound lanes will be open.
  • Monday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (afternoon peak hours)-two Ottawa-bound lanes and three Gatineau-bound lanes will be open.
  • During off-peak hours in the morning and afternoon, two lanes will be open in each direction.
  • For specific work, more restrictive lane closures will be required between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., where one lane will be open in each direction.

In addition to these lane reductions, some short-term closures will be required throughout this construction work. These closures will take place during off-peak hours.

The Gatineau-bound sidewalks will be open to pedestrians and cyclists throughout this period.

The schedule may change due to weather conditions.

PWGSC encourages users to exercise caution when travelling in the construction zone and thanks them for their patience.
