Macdonald-Cartier Bridge Rehabilitation Project-Lane Modifications During Construction Work

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 14, 2015) - Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) wishes to advise motorists that the configuration of lanes on the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge will be modified from Monday, August 17, to Friday, August 28, 2015, due to construction work.

The following lane configurations will take place:

  • Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (morning peak hours)-two Ottawa-bound lanes and two Gatineau-bound lanes will be open.
  • Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. (afternoon peak hours)-one Ottawa-bound lane and three Gatineau-bound lanes will be open.
  • During off-peak hours in the morning and afternoon, two lanes will be open in each direction.
  • For specific work, more restrictive lane closures will be required between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., where one lane will be open in each direction.

In addition to these lane configurations, some short-term closures will be required during this construction work. These closures will take place during off-peak hours.

The sidewalk next to the Ottawa-bound lanes will be open to pedestrians and cyclists throughout this period.
The schedule may change due to weather conditions.

PWGSC encourages users to exercise caution when travelling in the construction zone and thanks them for their patience.
