MacDonald Mines: McNugget Expands VMS Zones and Intersects Higher Tenor Mineralization up to 7.46% Zn Over 3.59m; 12.08% Zn Over 1.99m; 6.95% Zn & 1.0 g/t Au over 2.73m; and 1.22% Cu over 5.68m

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 18, 2006) - MacDonald Mines Exploration Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:BMK) -

MacDonald Mines (TSX VENTURE:BMK) is pleased to present the assay results of the fall 2006 drill campaign from its McNugget Property west of the McFauld's Lake area of Northern Ontario. This program follows up the successful drill campaign completed in the Spring of 2006 that led to the discovery of copper and zinc mineralized Massive Sulphides associated with a 4.6 km airborne VTEM anomaly. The fall 2006 program consisted of eight holes totaling 1634m. Of the 8 holes drilled, all hit sulphide mineralization and 6 intersected massive to near massive sulphides. MacDonald is encouraged at the higher tenor of the mineralized zones encountered in the fall drilling, and is planning to go back into the area in the spring of 2007 anticipating to increase the size of the massive sulphide lenses which remain open along strike and down dip.

The drilling initially targeted a 1.2 km zone of structural complexity and favourable geology between previous drill holes MN-06-14 and MN-06-17, now named the "Campbell Zone". Drilling also was carried out on 2 separate target areas several kilometers southwest of the Campbell Zone and located on the north-south trending western limb of the McNugget fold.


Highlights of the fall 2006 drill program on the Campbell Zone include holes MN06-20 with 3.59m assaying 0.16% Cu, 7.46% Zn and 31 g/t Ag; MN-06-21 with 8.05m at 0.91% Cu, 2.64% Zn and 17 g/t Ag, including 1.99m at 12.08% Zn, and 5.68m at 1.22% Cu; and MN-06-22 with 2.73m at 0.33% Cu, 6.95% Zn, 1.00 g/t Au and 23 g/t Ag, including 1.28m at 12.82% Zn. (Cu equals Copper; Zn equals Zinc; Ag equals Silver; Au equals Gold; g/t equals grams per ton).

Drilling on the north-south limb had a best intersection in near massive sulphides in hole MN06-27 of 6.36m at 0.92% Cu, 1.74% Zn and 11 g/t Ag, including 2.00m at 1.76% Cu.

Campbell Zone Drilling

Holes MN06-20, 21, 22, 23, and 24 targeted the Campbell Zone. Hole Mn06-20 was located approximately 30m west and 50m up dip of sulphide intersections in hole MN06-17. Hole MN06-21 was located approximately 75m west of MN-06-20. Hole MN06-22 was located approximately 40m west of hole MN06-21 and intersected the sulphide zone approximately 50m down dip. Hole MN06-23 was located approximately 700m west of MN-06-22, and MN06-24 was 75m further west again. Holes MN06-20, 21 and 22 intersected massive sulphide zones. Holes MN06-23 and 24 intersected only disseminated sulphide. All holes contained significant copper and zinc mineralization. Combined with hole M06-12 drilled in the spring, MacDonald has now intersected a zone of Zn-Cu massive sulphides over a strike length of 250m and to a depth of 125m. In addition a diamond drill hole from the 2004 campaign intersected 1.82% Zn over 4.90m on the same continuous EM anomaly trend 800m to the east of MN-06-12. This large target will be the focus of further exploration in the spring of 2007.

North-South Limb Drilling

Hole MN06-25 was located on in a new area and was targeted on very complex airborne VTEM anomalies. The hole intersected low grade disseminated and massive sulphides. Hole MN06-26 was collared 50m north of 2004 drill hole MN04-03 (1.16%Cu over 5.9m). This zone is approximately 5 kilometers to the south of hole MN06-25. Hole MN06-26 intersected the same zone of mineralization as in MN04-03, but only intersected disseminated to near massive sulphide with lower grade copper mineralization. Hole MN06-27 was designed to go 70m down dip of MN06-26 and this hole intersected better grade massive to near massive copper and zinc mineralized sulphides.

Assays were analyzed at Accurassay Laboratories in Thunder Bay. Reference standards and blanks were inserted into the sample streams as part of a QA/QC program to ensure accurate results. Approximately 10% of the samples were check assayed at TSL Laboratories in Saskatoon and correlation of results between the two labs was good.

Future Exploration Program

Plans include new cut grids over promising areas of the 4.6 km strike length of the airborne VTEM anomaly trend associated with the Campbell Zone mineralization. This grid will be used to carry out gravity and possibly IP/resistivity surveys. These surveys will be done in the winter to take advantage of frozen ground conditions. Follow-up drilling will also take place on untested parts of the anomaly trend on the north-south limb. In addition grids will be cut on several of the numerous airborne VTEM anomalies that have yet to be tested by diamond drilling.

The exploration work is being conducted under the supervision of GeoVector Management Inc and Joe Campbell (P. Geo.) is the qualified person for all technical information contained in this release.

MacDonald Mines Exploration Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of William Nielsen P.Geo as a Director of the company effective December 11,2006.Mr.Nielsen has over 30 years of field experience, project management and as a consultant in mineral/resource exploration Mr. Nielsen currently holds the position of Vice President of Exploration for Nevsun Resources Ltd., a Vancouver, Canada based resource company.

Kirk McKinnon President and CEO stated that the company is very pleased to have Mr.Nielsen join the company's Board of Directors. Mr.Nielsen has significant experience and success with base metal VMS type deposits and these insights will coincide with Joseph Campbell P GEO of GeoVector Management Inc.'s skills and knowledge.
