Machine Learning Data Analytics Leader Skytree Appoints Paul Salazar to Lead Growth and Expansion

Company Continues Expansion of Senior Management Team to Meet Growing Customer Demand for Technology

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2012) - Big Data analytics solution provider Skytree today announced that Paul Salazar has been appointed as Skytree's Vice President of Sales to drive the company's expansion plans and meet growing customer demand for machine learning technology. Paul Salazar brings 25 years of deep technology experience to Skytree and has led teams in product management, business development, marketing and sales. Skytree is a big data analytics company enabling organizations to perform machine learning and other advanced analytics methods on massive amounts of data.

The current Skytree team has extensive state-of-the-art scalable machine learning experience, providing guidance to the world's most demanding and data intensive environments such as the Large Hadron Collider, NASA, and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. These organizations deal with some of the most complex Big Data problems in the world today. The company's founding and executive team includes Alexander Gray, one of the foremost authorities in America on large-scale machine learning technologies.

"We are working hard to keep pace with the growing customer demand in Big Data," said Martin Hack, president, CEO, and co-founder of Skytree. "Machine learning has become a powerful weapon to analyze Big Data in ways that were not possible before. This becomes even more critical as we deal with the Big Data scientist shortage problems. We feel this is the right opportunity for us to expand our footprint and solve these problems effectively for our customers."

Prior to joining Skytree, Salazar launched global marketing and sales efforts for OTRS Group, an open source IT Solutions Company, boosting the company's sales for two consecutive years. In 2008, Salazar served as Vice President of Corporate Marketing for Greenplum, Inc., developing a marketing strategy for the data warehousing company on the cusp of the big data revolution. Salazar's proven experience with emerging technology will be utilized as Skytree continues to define the machine learning space.

"Paul will lead the charge in expanding our customer base where traditional analytics technology is the default choice," said Hack. According to Hack, the traditional approach to analytics has so far been human directed, looking at historical data, and performed at a human scale. "It's easy to determine which customer bought a certain product in our database but what if we want to predict which customer is going to buy what and when?" asked Hack. "That is the power of machine learning, going way beyond what's currently possible. The applications of these formulas span multiple industries, and it is this high growth potential that has caused Skytree to respond by building out its sales team." Hack continued that Skytree is at a critical stage of growth and expectations from its sales team are very high. "It was clear from his past experience that Paul was the right fit for the job," noted Hack.

Salazar has an MBA degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and MS and BS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
