MADD Canada and Irving Oil join forces to promote safe and sober roads in Atlantic Canada this holiday season

SAINT JOHN, NB--(Marketwired - November 25, 2016) - MADD Canada, MADD Saint John and Area Chapter, and Irving Oil will be asking everyone to put safe and sober driving at the top of their holiday list this year at the Project Red Ribbon Atlantic Region awareness campaign event on Tuesday, November 29th in Saint John.

Special guests helping to promote this year's campaign include Saint John Police Chief, John Bates and RCMP New Brunswick Assistant Commissioner, Larry Tremblay. In addition to Irving Oil, Project Red Ribbon is sponsored by Allstate Insurance Company of Canada, McLeod Safety, RTL-Westcan Group of Companies, BMO and #TAXI / The Ride.

Media are invited to attend the launch event to help spread this important message as we enter into the holiday season.

Now in its 29th year, Project Red Ribbon targets the Christmas and New Year holiday season because it is the busiest time of year on most social calendars and the risk for impaired driving is high. From November 1, 2016 to January 2, 2017, MADD Canada Chapters and Community Leaders across the country will distribute millions of red ribbons for Canadians to tie on their vehicles, key chains, purses, briefcases and backpacks. The red ribbon is a symbol of the wearers' commitment to sober driving, and a tribute to the thousands of Canadians who are killed and injured in impairment-related crashes each year.

As the Official Sponsor of Project Red Ribbon, Irving Oil plays a crucial role in helping to spread the sober driving message by including red ribbon decals on their fleet vehicles. New decals will be unveiled at this year's event.
