Madonna, Jeremy Lin Headline Top Events Rankings for February

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT--(Marketwire - Mar 8, 2012) - Following an entertaining halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI, Madonna has been successful selling tickets to her upcoming tour, catapulting the pop icon to the top of TicketNews' Top Events rankings, as compiled from February 1-29.

The seven-time Grammy Award winner will embark on her 2012 world tour, which is expected to contain upwards of 90 dates, beginning on May 29 in Tel Aviv. She will make her way to North America in the late summer when she plays at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on August 28. Due to high demand for tickets, she has added additional dates to multiple venues in cities including New York, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles.

While Madonna may have ruled the concert scene in February, there is no doubt that New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin dominated the sports landscape. Since debuting on February 4, Knicks tickets have become a hot commodity. The team moved from No. 9 in the rankings in January, up to No. 3 this past month and is the only sports team to finish in the Top 20.

Events to Watch in March:

  • Now that MLB Spring Training has officially begun, baseball fans will begin to look for tickets to their favorite teams once the regular season rolls around in April. Teams like the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees could make their seasonal debut in the rankings in March.
  • The NCAA Tournament will kick off in mid-March with the Final Four set to take place at the Louisiana Superdome from March 31 to April 2.
