Magazines Canada Appoints Chief Executive Officer

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - December 11, 2015) - Magazines Canada's Board of Directors has appointed Matthew Holmes as Chief Executive Officer of the association effective January 25, 2016.

Board Chair Douglas Knight said, "We are delighted to welcome Matthew to his new role as Chief Executive Officer of Magazines Canada, a post Canada's magazine media sees as critical in a period of massive media evolution."

Matthew Holmes is an experienced association leader who founded and built a major national association based in Ottawa. His background in government policy development and strategic relations as well as his success in implementing member-led strategies made him an ideal candidate for this role.

Michael Fox, chair of the hiring committee, said, "Matthew was chosen from a field of highly qualified candidates, making the work of the hiring committee both challenging and gratifying. In the end, Matthew Holmes was our unanimous choice."

Matthew Holmes said, "Quite simply, I'm honoured to have this opportunity to work for Magazines Canada. I find the diversity of our consumer brands, the distinct cultural values of our arts and literary titles and the progressive outlook of our business media publishers all working together in one organization absolutely amazing. I look forward to meeting and working with our members to advance their interests."

Mr. Holmes starts January 25, 2016. He replaces Mark Jamison, who will provide transition services to the organization for the next several months.
