Magazines Canada Releases White Paper on Canadian Subscribers

TORONTO--(Marketwired - Apr 25, 2013) - In partnership with Consumer Intelligence Group, Magazines Canada has released a report to its members that provides a detailed profile analysis of Canadian magazine subscribers.

The report, "A Profile Analysis of Canadian Magazine Subscribers," is based on the participation of most of the Canadian publishers in Canada, and provides data for 2.5 million subscribers. It is divided into seven categories and four geographic regions for each category. Information in the report includes the housing, family structure, age of adults, presence of children in the household, education, employment, household income and ethnicity of Canadian magazine subscribers.

Magazine subscribers of each of the seven categories (Home and Garden, Lifestyle and Travel, Literary and Culture, News and Opinion, Sports and Recreation, Visual Arts and Entertainment, and Women Publications) were compared against a benchmark of magazine subscribers in each of the four geographic areas (the East, Quebec, Ontario and the West). The benchmark is then used as a point of reference for evaluating the similarities and differences between all subscribers and category-specific subscribers in the geographic area.

Magazine staff can use the white paper to:

  • Gain an overview of the characteristics of their best subscribers to develop targeted customer profiles.
  • Guide subscriber acquisition campaign creative based on the demographics of the region or category.
  • Compare their PMB averages against the regional or category averages to demonstrate benefits for advertisers.
  • Add general, regional or category information on their subscribers to their advertising rate cards.
  • And more!

Magazines Canada members can access the white paper report by logging in to the Magazines Canada website at magazinescanada.ca/circulation/members_only_login. (If you are a Magazines Canada member, but don't have a login, contact Membership Development Manager Evan Dickson at edickson@magazinescanada.ca to gain access.)

The "Profile Analyis of Canadian Magazine Subscribers" report was produced in partnership with Consumer Intelligence Group and made possible with the support of the Ontario Media Development Corporation.
