Magic Johnson Wants to Know:"What Inspires You?"; Kicks Off National Tour as Part of the MAGIC Prepaid MasterCard® Campaign

First Stop: Atlanta on July 28th to Coincide With the Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes Music Festival

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 26, 2012) - In an effort to inspire people to take control of their financial lives, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises, today announced an 8-city What Inspires You? Tour, which will kick off in Atlanta on July 28th and run through September. Financial education with a dose of interactive fun is an important part of the tour, which will feature a mini-recording studio in which people can tell Magic Johnson what inspires them. The whole experience is designed to bring to life for consumers what the new MAGIC Prepaid MasterCard® has to offer and how it can help people better manage their everyday financial lives. As part of the tour, Magic Johnson Enterprises, in partnership with OneWest Bank, is sponsoring an online video contest for a chance to meet Johnson at a special inspirational event in Los Angeles this fall.

"This is an exciting part of the program for the MAGIC card," says Johnson. "People always ask me such great questions, and so many have inspired me along my path in life. Now, I get to hear what inspires them. I can't wait." He adds, "One of our goals with the MAGIC prepaid card is to help empower people to set savings goals, and provide the toolkit they need to achieve them. We really want to make it fun for people to spend wisely and save money. The tour is one of the ways we are reaching as many people as we can with that message, and hopefully inspiring them to get their financial lives in order along the way, too."

The What Inspires You? Tour will begin in Atlanta on July 28th at the Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes Music Festival. From there, it's on to Oakland for a three-day stop at The Coliseum for Oakland A's games during August 3rd - August 5th. The tour continues at six major events across the nation, where customers will be able to interact with and learn more about the new MAGIC prepaid card. Attendees can also record and submit their own inspirational story to enter the online video contest. Those not able to attend the tour can share their video entries on Facebook ( The person with the most inspiring story will meet Magic Johnson in person.

Magic Johnson launched the new reloadable MAGIC Prepaid MasterCard this June. The card provides a way for consumers to pay bills online, track their spending and saving, and have greater safety and security in a convenient and easy-to-use format that can help consumers build responsible financial habits.

"In today's world, cash has its limits, and the MAGIC prepaid card provides the ability to open up opportunities that cash can't manage -- like online shopping, car rentals, or paying bills online instead of in line," said Johnson. "It also carries a free MAGIC Mojo savings tool, which makes it easy to save money and keep cardmembers on a responsible financial track."
