Magnum Opus Gallery Announces the "Spring Xtreme Art Show" Competition

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2011) - Magnum Opus Gallery, located in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, is hosting the first annual Spring Xtreme Art Show. The month long show will feature illustrations related to extreme sporting events. It will run from April 1-30, and feature events and themed contests each weekend.

Joshua Stone, a local artist and a promoter of the show, said that artists should submit original artwork that captures the essence of extreme sports.

"The objective of the Spring Xtreme Art Show is to offer a forum and venue for those artists and fans to express their love and appreciation of extreme sports through visual art."

Stone said the theme of the Spring Xtreme Art Show is to cultivate dialog about those sports that were once frowned upon as rebellious tools of young teenagers.

"The artist should attempt to examine their relationship, experience or respective love of these sports activities," Stone added. "Xtreme sports has transformed itself into a world recognized sports platform and is no longer viewed as a subculture or counter culture within the sports community."

There is a submission fee of $25 for entries received by the March 17 deadline. Over $1,000 in prizes will be awarded throughout the month long show.

Magnum Opus, which is in its seventh year of operations and deals in contemporary art in all mediums that includes Oils, Acrylics, Pastels, Inks, Sculpting and fabrics, is located on 330 Kennett Pike Menden Hall Station, Chadds Ford, Pa.
