Magnum Semiconductor Leads Contribution Markets With New Generation Low Latency and 422 Encoder and Decoder Solutions

New DXTPro Chipset-Based Solutions From Magnum Set a New Level of Performance for Electronic News Gathering and Event Coverage Contribution Solutions

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - September 9, 2009) - Magnum Semiconductor, the leader in professional-grade compression processors, announced today its latest generation of low latency and YUV 4:2:2 DXTPro-based encoder and decoder solutions for DENG, DSNG and event coverage contribution applications. The new low latency codec solution achieves sub 300 msec end-to-end latencies for H.264 HD video, enabling applications such as mobile news gathering, while the new 4:2:2 solution offers MPEG-2 encoding and decoding in native 8-bit YUV 4:2:2 1080p50/60 formats, thus further enabling the trend towards 1080p50/60 premium broadcast programming mostly used for top quality event contribution.

The DXTPro processors achieve these feats through the use of Magnum's powerful and proprietary DXT multi-core media-processor architecture, which delivers uncompromising video quality at lowest bit rates. This architecture allows OEMs to leverage a single platform across the entire broadcast chain, from contribution to distribution.

"Magnum's relentless focus on the broadcast market drives true compression leadership across the entire broadcast chain, all the way to the home. Our latest low latency and YUV 4:2:2 DXTPro additions for the contribution market allow platform OEMs and operators to fulfill their encoding, decoding and transcoding needs faster with better video quality across the entire broadcast chain," said Gopal Solanki, CEO at Magnum Semiconductor.
