Maidstone Restaurant Appoints New Executive Chef

Tudor Park, a Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Announces Great New Asset to Restaurant Team

MAIDSTONE, ENGLAND--(Marketwire - Jul 5, 2012) -  An award-winning chef has been named to the executive post at a premier hotel in Kent, England and with that appointment becomes the youngest executive head chef among the Marriott Hotel Group's 58 UK-based hotels.

At the age of 25, Tom Biddle has taken the helm at Tudor Park, A Marriott Hotel & Country Club in Bearsted and is leading a team of a dozen chefs to ensure the finest in culinary service at the property's restaurants in Maidstone and their many catering commitments.

"Tom is the epitome of the executive head chefs we have at Marriott," says Simon Beaumont, director of culinary for Marriott International. Recently leading the winning team in a popular European-wide catering competition, even at the age of 25, Biddle has accrued nearly 10 years of catering experience and is the first to say he "eats, sleeps and breathes food."

In his new position Biddle is responsible for the quality of food served at the Kent, England hotel's restaurants as well as catering for up to 250 persons as part of the culinary services for those utilizing the spacious conference and events facilities at Tudor Park, A Marriott Hotel & Country Club. The prestigious country club and hotel's catering service annually maintains a demanding schedule of about 50 weddings, along with a number of business banquets and golfing events, a challenge which is nothing new to Biddle, who comes to Tudor Park after serving four years as head chef at another Marriott Hotel in Birmingham.

A native of Birmingham, Biddle recently moved to Kent and quickly stepped into his work duties on the next day. As he becomes familiar with the area and its renowned bounty, his goal is to secure as much quality, locally grown produce as possible for the menu of the Marriott's prominent Maidstone restaurant, the Conical Grill and its companion eatery, the Zest Bar.

"I am pretty much a go-getter," says Biddle with enthusiasm of his new appointment. "And, although a good chef is about producing fine quality food with the freshest of ingredients, I also think it is about having good management skills in the kitchen."

Biddle is such a go-getter, that he is overseeing the food preparation for his upcoming wedding in Cyprus, where he will marry Natalie, mother of his 15-month-old daughter, Millie-Grace. Determined to be in charge of the food, he has forwarded his choice of menu and recipes to the Cypriot chefs and plans to make a quality assurance appearance in the kitchens on his wedding day.
