Major U.S. Power Transmission Projects to Be Completed in Coming Months, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - March 31, 2011) -  Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- As subdivisions creep into previously unpopulated areas, and windfarms and solar parks are brought online to help meet renewable energy requirements, power transmission projects are necessary to deliver the power needed from the new facilities and to the new areas. Industrial Info's Power Industry Project Database currently shows 18 power transmission projects that have been completed or are scheduled for completion this year. The projects have an aggregate total investment value of $2.2 billion.

One of the largest power transmission projects scheduled for completion this year is Trans-Allegheny Interstate Line Company's (TrAILCo) (Greensburg, Pennsylvania) 215-mile, 500-kilovolt (kV) overhead high-voltage transmission line, spanning the states of Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. TrAILCo was part of Allegheny Energy (Greensburg), which merged with FirstEnergy Corporation (NYSE:FE) (Akron, Ohio) in February this year.
