Majority of Britons Have Never Painted the House Exterior

LONDON, ENGLAND--(Marketwire - June 27, 2012) - Many people spruce up the outside of their home with new flowers or windows but the majority have never painted the exterior of their property.

According to a recent survey by Sandtex, a masonry-paint manufacturer, 84% of Britons have never put a fresh lick of paint on the outside of their home. Repainting the walls is fantastic to brighten up any wear and tear occurred due to weathering, as well as correct any marks or cracks.

Painting the exterior of the property can also reflect your personality. Many opt for simple colours such as white, cream or magnolia but you can be daring and creative. However, there may be restrictions imposed by the local council so you need to check whether planning permission is required or building regulations apply.

What is more, you do need to take into account your neighbours' thoughts as they will be facing it on a daily basis as well as the rest of the style on the street so it looks complete rather than an eyesore.

Transform the outside of the home by replacing the door, rendering, cladding and retiling the roof. Tiles come in various colours including black, green, red, brown, grey, blue and orange so whatever your taste, you can add a splash of colour this summer.

The study found that replacing unattractive concrete roof tiles can add value to the property and make it more attractive. Further aspects which can make it more saleable consist of having a well-kept front door and smartly painted walls.
