Majority of Business Leaders Encouraged With 2010 Performance, Optimistic About 2011

Survey of Puget Sound Area Executives and Business Leaders Reveals Less Satisfaction With New Customer Growth in 2010, Renewed Focus on CRM and Social Media in 2011

REDMOND, WA--(Marketwire - November 30, 2010) - Over 70 percent of business leaders were encouraged by their organization's ability to adapt to business challenges faced in 2010, and an even higher percentage (80 percent) are optimistic about their 2011 outlook. 

This encouraging economic signal was reflected in a recently completed survey of 100 Puget Sound area business leaders and executives conducted by Heinz Marketing and OnTarget Consulting & Research.

Other key findings reflected optimism about customer loyalty, but less satisfaction with new customer sales.

  • Eighty percent of respondents gave their organization a grade of "A" or "B" for effectiveness in keeping customers
  • Only 65 percent of respondents gave their organizations an "A" or "B" for effectiveness in winning new customers
  • Nearly 70 percent of respondents believed their most important customers remained loyal, with 78 percent of respondents reporting that loyalty of their best customers had increased or stayed the same during the year
  • More than 70 percent of respondents were encouraged by the strength of their 2011 go-to-market strategy

"If organizations can maintain the strength and loyalty of their core customers, a focus on sales acceleration into the New Year can help fulfill the optimism reflected by senior business leaders."

Survey respondents indicated that better insight into customers' most important needs, more regular customer feedback, and innovative customer problem-solving would be key to increasing customer loyalty in 2011.
