Make-A-Wish Rope for Hope, Presented by Canadian Western Bank, raises more than $1.4 million to grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - November 08, 2016) - Make-A-Wish^® Canada is pleased to announce that its national signature event, Make-A-Wish^® Rope for Hope, Presented by Canadian Western Bank, has raised more than $1.4 million in 2016.

"An enormous 'thank you' goes out to all Rope for Hope participants and sponsors for helping us surpass our 2016 fundraising goal," says Jennifer Klotz-Ritter, president & CEO, Make-A-Wish Canada. "Money raised will help grant magical wishes for kids with life-threatening medical conditions in Canada, helping families at a critical time and providing much-needed hope, strength and joy."

Rope for Hope is an exhilarating event where individuals raise a minimum of $1,500 for local wish-granting efforts in their city, in exchange for the opportunity to rappel down a building. Rappelling events this year took place across the country from May through October in: Kitchener-Waterloo, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Halifax, London, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton and Moncton.

Congratulations to Our Top Fundraisers!

Doug Coleman, a member of team Trucking for Wishes, raised over $13,500, making him the top individual fundraiser in Canada for 2016. Make-A-Wish^® would like to recognize and congratulate the entire team, for raising more than $68,000 in support of Make-A-Wish^® Southwestern Ontario at the London Rope for Hope event. Their incredible efforts named them the top fundraising team across all Rope for Hope events in Canada.

National Fundraising Contest Winner Announced

Congratulations to Annette Conrad, team captain of the South Shore Seagulls at Rope for Hope Halifax. Annette raised more than $7,710 and is the winner of the 2016 National Fundraising Contest draw for an incredible one-week getaway for two to London, England, courtesy of WestJet and Monograms, part of the Globus family of brands.
