Make-A-Wish(R) Canada Appoints Two New National Board Members


TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - January 29, 2015) - Make-A-Wish® Canada is pleased to announce the recent appointments of Lana Paton and Matt MacDonald to its national board of directors.

Ms. Paton and Mr. MacDonald bring knowledge and expertise from several industries to Make-A-Wish® that will assist with the advancement of the organization's mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

About Lana Paton

Ms. Paton is a motivated leader, inspired to think differently and drive actions that help create positive change. She has extensive national leadership experience managing change, people and strategy execution, with a focus on creating large-scale impact.

As a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA-CA), Ms. Paton has worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) in the tax group since January 1994. She is currently the Canadian National Energy, Utilities, Mining & Industrial Products leader at the firm and has a vast knowledge and expertise in complex tax issues within the mining and utility sector, at all government levels and with large, multinational corporations.

Ms. Paton graduated from the University of Waterloo with a bachelor of mathematics degree in 1993 and has been a qualified CPA-CA since 1994.

Her commitment to give back is part of her strong family values. Her two young children not only donate portions of their allowance to charity but also their time in fundraising activities. Ms. Paton and her family are active supporters of the local Greek community in Toronto and Durham.

About Matt MacDonald

An entrepreneur at heart, Mr. MacDonald has owned and operated several successful small businesses, many of which before the age of 25. He is a natural leader, committed to excellence, efficiency and ethics in everything he does.

Mr. MacDonald has worked with JMA Group since 2008 and currently holds the position of partner and COO. His focus is leadership and management, human resources management, corporate restructuring, IT integration and social media.

He graduated from McMaster University with an honours degree in business administration and received his MBA from Liberty University in Virginia.

Mr. MacDonald also sits on the board of directors of Kings Christian Collegiate as well as a number of private companies. He resides in Toronto with his wife and three children.
