Make-A-Wish(R) Canada Launches 2014 Season of Wishes(R) Campaign


TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - December 02, 2014) - Make-A-Wish® Canada asks Canadians to give the gift of joy this holiday season, during its annual Season of Wishes® campaign.

This year, close to 500 magical, life-affirming wishes will be granted to children with life-threatening medical conditions from coast to coast. Season of Wishes celebrates the bravery of these courageous wish kids and their families. It's a time for colleagues, friends and family to rally together and give, so that the one true wish of every eligible child can come true.

There are several ways to donate during the campaign and help kids like five-year-old Maya, who suffers from leukemia and wished to be a ballerina, receive their wish. Click here to watch Maya's wish video. 

Ways to support local wish-granting efforts during Season of Wishes:

1. Shop for Wishes - Help Make-A-Wish® and check those names off your shopping list at the same time by purchasing holiday gifts for loved ones from participating retailers, including:

  • Bowring
  • Foot Locker
  • Suzy Shier
  • Kernels
  • Things Remembered
  • Travel Underwriters

2. Mastermind Toys Campaign - For every new "Like" to the Mastermind Toys Facebook page, $1 will be donated to Make-A-Wish Canada, up to a maximum of $25,000.

3. Honda Canada Match Campaign - This holiday, your donation to Honda Canada's seasonal campaign will be matched by Honda (up to $10,000). That means up to $20,000 will go towards making magical wishes come true for children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

4. Barbie"Wishes from the Heart" Campaign - Children across the country are encouraged to submit a heartfelt wish for someone special in their life on barbie.com/mydreams and Barbie will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish Canada every time a wish is submitted. An additional $1 will be donated every time wishes are spread on social media using the #BarbieWishes hashtag and another $1 every time the upcoming special compilation video of wishes is shared from the Barbie™ YouTube page. A maximum of $15,000 will be donated.

5. Kringl, The Proof of Santa App - Prove that Santa Claus is real with Kringl, the proof of Santa app. Download the app for free on your iOS or Android and donate to Make-A-Wish Canada. Find out more at kringlapp.com.

6. Order Custom Holiday Cards - Purchase cards to send a festive, holiday greeting to someone special or make a minimum online donation of $1,000 and send an e-card instead.

7. Text to Give - Text JOY to 45678 to donate $5 to support magical wishes across the country.

8. Gift Matching - Donations made by December 31 through the Make-A-Wish Canada direct mail campaign will be matched by the National Board of Directors to a maximum of $25,000 which will go towards our wish-granting mission.
