Making Way for the Next Generation of Musicians in Downtown Thetford Mines

Government of Canada supports the Festival Promutuel de la releve de Thetford Mines


THETFORD MINES, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 7, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development, Minister for La Francophonie and Member of Parliament (Mégantic-L'Érable), today announced $10,900 in funding for the 21st Festival Promutuel de la relève de Thetford Mines, taking place from August 14 to 16, 2014. He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

This funding, provided through the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program, will be used to present all kinds of musical acts featuring a variety of emerging artists.

  • This year's Festival will offer more than 30 musical performances, presented free of charge on three stages in downtown Thetford Mines.
  • The Festival draws some 80,000 visitors each year and relies on the participation of 300 volunteers.
  • In addition to a wide range of family activities and entertainment, the lineup includes the Rendez-vous québécois de la jeune peinture, a competition for visual arts students and self-taught artists.
