Malaysia's Petronas and BASF SE to Establish Joint Venture to Produce Specialty Chemicals, an Industrial Info News Alert

BANGALORE, INDIA--(Marketwire - December 17, 2010) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Global chemicals manufacturer BASF SE (OTC:BASFY) (Ludwigshafen, Germany) and Malaysia's state-controlled Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint venture company in Malaysia to manufacture specialty chemical products. As per the agreement, both companies will undertake economic, technical and commercial feasibility studies to construct state-of-the-art production facilities. The manufacturing units of the $1.3 billion joint venture will produce methanesulfonic acid, iso-nonanol, non-ionic surfactants, methanesulfonic acid and other specialty products.
