Mallory Alexander Selects Descartes for Multimodal Shipment Visibility

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 1, 2007) - Descartes Systems Group (TSX:DSG)(NASDAQ:DSGX), a global on-demand software-as-a-service (SaaS) logistics solutions provider, announced that Mallory Alexander International Logistics - a global third party logistics company headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee - has selected Descartes to provide visibility into its multimodal shipments.

Mallory Alexander has selected Descartes' Visibility & Event Management and Reporting Services applications to track, report and manage over half a million annual shipments across multiple transportation modes.

"After a thorough evaluation of logistics solutions currently available in the market, it was clear to us that Descartes provided the only truly multimodal tracking and tracing system that could meet both our immediate and future business needs," said Tinamarie Sauter, COO of Mallory Alexander. "Since its applications are supported by the Descartes Global Logistics Network, we can collaborate more effectively with our customers and partners, and further boost the reliability of the services we offer. Descartes allows us to have a single source to view our shipments regardless of transportation provider or mode of transport."

With the Descartes solution in place, Mallory Alexander can provide its customers and employees with real-time visibility into shipments. The Descartes solution also provides Mallory Alexander with tools to identify and proactively deal with shipment exceptions - such as shipments that have not been made or are delayed.

"Descartes helps Mallory Alexander standardize and simplify core logistics business processes by enabling visibility and collaboration across our Global Logistics Network." said Eric Bossdorf, Vice President, Global Logistics Network at Descartes. "And we also enable them to drive lower operating costs and deliver even greater value to their own clients."

Descartes Visibility & Event Management is designed to enable logistics companies, like Mallory Alexander, to collaborate with customers and trading partners across multiple modes of transportation, and leverage the visibility to monitor order status and foresee order failures before they happen. Potential benefits that can be obtained from this type of visibility include reducing its shipment variability, decreasing the number of exceptions, and improving the quality of data Mallory Alexander provides to its customers.

For metrics-focused companies such as Mallory Alexander, Descartes Reporting Services provides the functionality and flexibility required to establish a flexible, logistics-oriented reporting infrastructure. This solution can help with faster and more accurate decision-making; enable users to identify trends and explore data; empower departments to gain greater control over their reporting processes; and, allow quick and easy access to reports.
