MAN vs MACHINE: OLYMPIC SPEEDSKATER RACES FAN-PROPELLED RE-INVENTOR

- Live event marks 20th anniversary of 1988 Calgary Olympics as Canada gears up for Vancouver 2010 Winter Games -

Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, News Editor, Photo Editor, Sports Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO, MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - March 6, 2008) - In a scene reminiscent of Wile E. Coyote and The Roadrunner, Re-Inventor Jeremy MacPherson will strap a fan-propeller to his back next Monday to attempt to out-skate world-class power speed-skater and 2010 Canadian Olympic hopeful Olivier Jean.

The live event will take place on the ice at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto on Monday, March 10 to showcase one of the many "re-inventions" and contraptions featured on the second season of The Re-Inventors, premiering on History Television on Saturday, March 15 at 6 pm ET/PT.

The Re-Inventors follows hosts Jeremy MacPherson and Matt Hunter as they dig up original patent designs to build and test inventions from the past, including contraptions like the skate propeller, first patented by Horace M. Morrill in 1948, designed to provide speed and thrust to manually-propelled activities such as skating. Like most of Wile E. Coyote's contraptions, some designs recreated by the Re-Inventors crash and burn, but others actually prove brilliant when given a chance.

>> Live on-ice race between Olivier Jean, Canadian power speed-skater and Olympic hopeful, and Jeremy MacPherson, co-host of The Re-Inventors, who will be wearing a fan-propeller on his back

>> Presentation of training funds, on behalf of the Re-Inventors, to assist and support Olivier Jean in his journey to the 2010 Winter Olympics
