ManageSoft Launches Enterprise Compliance Manager 8.1

Support of Product Usage Rights Enables Hefty IT Savings

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - June 11, 2009) - ManageSoft -- the leading provider of desktop to datacenter software asset management (SAM) solutions -- announced today that its new Enterprise Compliance Manager® (ECM) software, version 8.1 has been released. This edition allows organizations to further trim software license purchases and lower maintenance renewal expenses. The license and contract management system now supports product usage rights that are critical for optimizing software license allocation and establishing an accurate license position.

ECM is the first license management solution that includes detailed product usage rights in its license compliance calculation. Product Usage Rights or "PURs," specify the terms, conditions, and restrictions of software use that are found in the associated software publisher's End-User License Agreement. ECM incorporates PURs such as: secondary use rights, upgrade and downgrade rights, and multiple installations. Organizations can take advantage of PURs to reduce their IT spending by exposing over licensing and providing ammunition for renegotiating license renewals.

"Each release of Enterprise Compliance Manager finds more ways to wring-out savings and optimize each customer's license position," said Vincent Brasseur, ManageSoft's director of product marketing. "Just considering the right of second use alone, ECM helps organizations avoid purchasing the same software twice for desktop and laptop computers."
