Managing Automation Media and SpecIT Announce Strategic Partnership to Expand Services for Manufacturers Worldwide

NEW YORK, NY and LONDON--(Marketwire - May 15, 2008) - Managing Automation Media, wholly owned by New York-based Thomas Publishing Company LLC, and U.K.-based independent consultancy firm SpecIT today announced a strategic partnership to provide manufacturers in North America and Europe with enhanced decision-support tools and services to reduce the time, expense, and risk associated with evaluating and selecting complex enterprise applications and to better manage and control their IT investment.

The partnership combines the power of the TechMATCH product databases at ManagingAutomation.com and Manufacturing-Executive.com with the technology selection resources of SpecIT, providing manufacturers with a seamless transition from early-stage discovery to a consultant-supported short list and eventual technology selection. The partnership will be executed in two phases.

The new decision-support tools brought about by the partnership will benefit manufacturing decision-makers in a variety of ways. During this period of increasing demands on time and shrinking internal resources, manufacturers need credible and reliable options to help them make improvements in their businesses. By taking advantage of easy access to experts who are savvy about best practices in the manufacturing industry, manufacturers can confidently minimize the risk inherent in choosing critical business technology while saving time. Hiring an experienced consultant has the advantage of allowing a more holistic approach to technology selection with an outside expert who can navigate around internal silos. The delegation of the information-gathering and alternative selection processes to a qualified external consultant also frees up employees' time to focus on core business processes.

"Managing Automation Media and SpecIT are teaming up to provide solutions that enable manufacturers to accelerate and improve the decision-making process," explained Heather L. Mikisch, Publisher, Managing Automation Media. "We believe the relationship will yield great benefits for progressive manufacturers in their efforts to stay abreast of the most promising technologies that fit their specific needs. We are giving industry leaders access to experts so that they can assign dedicated resources and stay on schedule with accelerated project timelines. This announcement marks our commitment to listening to the needs of manufacturing decision-makers and providing information and tools that will help them overcome hurdles and position their companies for improvement and growth."

Commenting on the partnership, Nick Crouch, Director of SpecIT, said, "I believe this to be an important agreement for both companies, which will allow manufacturers across the globe to access the most comprehensive decision-support tool in the marketplace. By combining the knowledge and expertise of Managing Automation Media and SpecIT, we are jointly able to provide an unparalleled knowledge base of technology solutions and experts. This announcement is just the first step in our strategic initiative to become the pre-eminent information and assistance source for progressive manufacturers throughout the world."

The partnership will provide manufacturers with the following tools and support:

1. Free access to TechMATCH, an online database containing thousands of enterprise solutions covering 37 technology categories for all manufacturing industries. TechMATCH enables site visitors to browse solutions by heading, compare solutions side by side, create custom specifications using a priority weighting system, and submit RFI's directly to preferred vendors.

2. Free access to a new database of independent consultants, vetted and screened by Managing Automation Media and SpecIT. Site visitors can identify consultants by technology area of expertise, location, and services offered. TechPro is expected to launch in summer of 2008 as phase one of the partnership.

In the second phase, the partnership will offer premium access to SpecIT's ISVM database, which offers over 30,000 functionality points, detailed gap analysis of current applications versus requirements and RFP capabilities. Additional industries and technologies will be added, more than doubling the range of needs that can be met using the tools. The partnership will also expand the geographic availability of experienced consultants and technology offerings.

Participating technology vendors will benefit from increased visibility for their solutions, as manufacturers worldwide utilize the combined decision-support tools and services available from Managing Automation Media and SpecIT. Managing Automation's website currently receives an average of 100,000 monthly visits, with 50,000 page views to the TechMATCH database. With the increased service offerings brought about by the partnership, visits, page views, and time spent on the site are expected to increase. To take advantage of the increase in traffic, technology vendors are encouraged to review and update their product listings via the easy-to-use TechMATCH vendor dashboard at: http://www.managingautomation.com/vendors/home.aspx.
