Manitoba Students See Powerful Sober Driving Message

OAKVILLE, ON--(Marketwired - May 20, 2016) - With prom and grad season nearly here, MADD Canada and Provincial Sponsor Manitoba Public Insurance are hosting a special screening of 24 Hours, MADD Canada's current School Assembly Program, to remind students about the dangers of impaired driving and empower them to make safe and responsible choices.

24 Hours follows Michelle, Lainey and Nate as they attend a bush party dubbed "The End of the World." Getting into the spirit of the theme, the friends discuss what they would do if the end of the world really was coming and they only had 24 hours to live. As designated driver on the night of the party, Nate agrees he won't drink any alcohol. But Lainey later catches him smoking pot. Now, with no designated driver, the friends end up in a vehicle with a person they trust to be sober. They could never imagine how significant that earlier conversation about their last day would become.

24 Hours is touring schools around the province now. MADD Canada and Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) are hosting a special screening for students and staff at Elmwood High on May 24 to highlight this year's powerful program.

Media are welcome to attend the screening and speak with special guests, students and staff.

Date: Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.
Location: Elmwood High School, 505 Chalmers Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2L 0G4
Guests: Angeliki Souranis -- National President, MADD Canada
