Manitoba's Global Wind Group, Inc. Signs Agreement With Indian Partner for Global Growth

Memo of Understanding With TIM Engineering Technologies Ltd. to Supply Energy Efficient Wind Power 'Grid' to Emerging Economies

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Oct. 22, 2010) - Winnipeg's Global Wind Group, Inc. has signed a major foreign manufacturing, marketing and distribution memo of understanding that could see its rugged ZüS™ vertical axis wind turbines sold throughout India. Global Wind Group is partnering with TIM Engineering Technologies Ltd. of Ahmedabad, India in an exclusive arrangement. The companies announced the agreement at Centrallia, a global business to business conference in Winnipeg.

"For emerging economies to push their countries into the 21st century, they'll need reliable, sustainable electricity. But building a North American-style power grid isn't feasible," said John Fjeldsted, President and CEO of Global Wind Group. "The telecommunications industry is a great example: it's much easier, cheaper and reliable to power each cellular tower individually."

The ZüS™ Modular Power Systems are rugged stand-alone, turnkey wind turbines perfectly suited to deliver reliable power in remote settings. These turbines require minimal maintenance and have an insensitivity to wind turbulence.

"Our wind powered system is an efficient and economical alternative to a fuel generator, which many developing countries currently use," said Justin Phillips, Vice President of Business Development. "Diesel generators are neither a commercial nor environmentally sensible way of powering base stations in off-grid locations."

The partnership will focus its efforts on India first where it is among the first companies to enter this space. India is currently the world's fifth largest user of wind power, and investments in this form of renewable energy are expected to continue to grow in the years ahead. Globally, the demand for energy efficient products and solutions is rising because countries are under pressure to cut emissions while demand for energy is increasing.

"We are very happy to partner with Global Wind Group and work together to bring the vertical axis wind turbine technology to India," said Anil Patel, Managing Director of TIM Engineering Technologies. "With our vast experience of more than 25 years in the field of capital equipment manufacturing and renewable energy, we see the potential for great success, well supported by readymade manufacturing infrastructure and capacity to distribute the turbines globally."

"There are approximately six billion consumers out there in the global marketplace. So if you are only looking domestically, you are missing out on great opportunities," said Fjeldsted. "Many developing countries are looking for solutions that can deliver energy reliably and at a low cost. Our energy efficient wind turbines will serve the growing needs of these countries to develop energy infrastructure from residential needs to industrial capacity."

The agreement has been in the works for several months, said Phillips. "We want to thank Manitoba Entrepreneurship, Training and Trade for their assistance in helping us find an international partnership with such great potential."
