VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Sept. 11, 2014) - Mantra Energy Alternatives Ltd., a subsidiary of Mantra Venture Group Ltd. (OTCQB:MVTG), has been accepted into the Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) CleanTech program for the Fall of 2014. The program, which accepts a handful of companies by application for each cohort, was established and is managed by the Consulates General of Canada in New York and San Francisco.

The CTA CleanTech program is offered annually for "up to 10 promising Canadian clean technology companies", to help accelerate their growth into global markets. The program provides professional coaching and mentoring, including market analysis, developing value propositions, and leveraging the comprehensive US network to assist with connections to potential customers, partners, and stakeholders. It will run from early September to late November, launching with an event in New York City to meet regional contacts and ending with an in-market component of business development and networking in Silicon Valley. Supported by a host of organizations including the Provinces of Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta, the Canada Export Development Corporation, and the Business Development Bank of Canada, the CTA program has a comprehensive set of contacts in industries ranging from the chemical to the automotive.

"Acceptance into this program is an enormous opportunity for Mantra," said CEO Larry Kristof, who will be participating in the CTA. "The timing could not be better, as Mantra is moving into the next phase of growth that is targeted by the CTA. We would like to extend our thanks to the Canadian Trade Commissioners and Consulates in Vancouver, New York, and San Francisco."

Mr. Kristof has also been invited to attend the Mainland China - Hong Kong Joint Investment & Partnership Mission to Toronto on September 12. An initiative of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the mission is seeking to identify investment and partnership opportunities in Canada in clean technology, renewable energy, automated technology and new materials. General networking and one-on-one meetings will give Mantra a unique opportunity to present the Company directly to parties seeking clean technology investment opportunities.

About Mantra Venture Group

Mantra Venture Group Ltd. (OTCQB: MVTG) is a clean technology incubator that takes innovative emerging technologies and moves them towards commercialization. The Company, through its subsidiary Mantra Energy Alternatives, is currently developing two groundbreaking electrochemical technologies designed to make reducing greenhouse gas emissions profitable, ERC (Electro-Reduction of Carbon Dioxide) and MRFC (Mixed-Reactant Fuel Cell).

ERC is a form of "carbon capture and utilization" (CCU) that converts the polluting greenhouse gas carbon dioxide into useful, valuable products including formic acid and formate salts. By utilizing clean electricity, the process offers the potential for an industrial plant to reduce emissions while generating a salable product and a profit.

The MRFC is an unconventional fuel cell that uses a mixture of fuel and oxidant, thereby greatly reducing the complexity and cost of the fuel cell system. Ideal for portable applications, the MRFC is cheaper, lighter, and more compact than conventional fuel cell technologies.
