MapR Executives to Present at Notable Industry Conferences in May, Including Multiple Big Data Everywhere Events

Speaking highlights include:

Women in Big Data
The goal of the Women in Big Data Forum is to strengthen the diversity in the big data field. As part of this initiative, the group would like to encourage and attract more female talent to big data analytics field and help them connect, engage and grow.

When: Wednesday, May 4 at 9:00 AM
Where: MapR Technologies headquarters, 350 Holger Way, San Jose, CA
What: This all-day workshop will feature MapR Senior Director of Product Management, Neeraja Rentachintala, who will lead a tutorial on "Introduction to Apache Drill," which includes the essentials of Apache Drill, such as writing SQL queries on a range of data types, using Drill Explorer on semi-structure data, and how Drill interacts with data and does schema discovery. MapR Solutions Architect, James Casaletto, will cover "Introduction to Apache Spark," which will describe the features of Apache Spark, how Spark fits in the big data application stack, and how Spark works with Hadoop.

Big Data Everywhere Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, Boston, New York and Phoenix
Big Data Everywhere (BDE) is a half-day conference focused on Hadoop, Spark and other big data technologies that brings together users and developers to share their experience via technical sessions and user success stories. In addition to MapR, other companies speaking at BDE this month include Altitude Digital, Cardlytics, Eastern Bank, Intel Security, Liaison, and Pfizer.

What: MapR Director, Enterprise Strategy & Architecture Jim Scott will present on "Streaming in the Extreme," where he will discuss how technologies like Kafka can be used to accomplish real-time, lossless messaging that works in both single and multiple globally dispersed data centers.

Where: The Westin Boston Waterfront, Boston, MA and Convene, New York City, NY
What: MapR Chief Application Architect Ted Dunning will discuss, "Modern Streaming Analytics, Flow versus State," where attendees will learn how the leading edge of big data architectural practice is rapidly moving to flow-based computing using streaming architectures as opposed to state-based computing based on batch programs plus workflow schedulers. Additionally, MapR Systems Engineer Vince Gonzales will share his insights on "Self-Service Data Exploration Analytics on Hadoop - Introduction to Apache Drill" where he will describe the necessary key concepts of Drill and illustrate them with practical examples, and describe why this matters in the real world.

Where: JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, Phoenix, AZ
What: MapR Data Scientist Joe Blue will present on "The Customer 360 Revolution," where he will cover recent examples in which he used machine learning methods via Hadoop to incorporate large amounts of data with varying amounts of structure to predict customers' behavior and discuss how businesses are beginning to apply that capability to their bottom line.

Big Data Everywhere will also be held this month in Munich, Singapore and Mumbai.
