MapR Technologies to Present Sessions About Hadoop and Apache Drill at Upcoming Conferences in June

What: MapR's Chief Marketing Officer Jack Norris will present a session titled, "Using Hadoop to offload data warehousing processing." This session will examine specific use cases to illustrate the design considerations and the economics behind data warehouse offloading with Hadoop. The 50X cost advantage of Hadoop and the capability to store and analyze unstructured data makes Hadoop a compelling platform for vast information store and direct ETL processing

HBaseCon 2013

Where: San Francisco Marriott Marquis, San Francisco, CA
What: MapR's Development Lead Jacques Nadeau will present a session titled, "Apache Drill: A community-driven initiative to deliver ANSI SQL capabilities for Apache HBase." This session will provide an overview of Apache Drill that delivers full ANSI SQL capability for HBase users. Apache Drill, which is based on Google's Dremel technology, has an ambitious design goal of providing sub-second query capability over trillions of database rows. Drill is also designed to work with popular ecosystem components such as Salesforce-led Phoenix that provides coprocessor and secondary index push down capabilities, while complementing such technologies with distributed full sort and join functionality. Critical architectural pieces of this project along with associated use cases will be presented.

Open Analytics Summit
Monday, June 17 at 11:30 am ET
Where: 404NYC, New York City
What: MapR's Data Scientist Allen Day will present a session titled, "NoSQL and SQL work side-by-side to tackle real-time Big Data needs." The session discusses how enterprise architects can take a holistic approach to real-time Big Data problems and look at NoSQL and SQL technologies as complementary pieces of the same puzzle. The session will delve into SQL queries over Hadoop and the various ways Hadoop NoSQL database and SQL work hand in hand to provide the best real-time results for the business user. Specifically, technologies such as Apache HBase and Apache Drill will be discussed.

STAC Summit

Hadoop Summit

What: MapR's Senior Director Global Systems Engineering Rob Rosen will present a session titled, "How one company offloaded data warehouse ETL to Hadoop and saved $30 million." A Fortune 100 company recently introduced Hadoop into their data warehouse environment and ETL workflow to save $30 Million. This session examines the specific use case to illustrate the design considerations, as well as the economics behind ETL offload with Hadoop. Additional information about how the Hadoop platform was leveraged to support extended analytics will also be referenced.
