Mara Lake Cabins Popular with Rec Property Buyer

2012 campaign launched by Hummingbird Beach Resort highlights classic cabin at the lake

SICAMOUS, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 28, 2012) - Hummingbird Beach Resort announced today the launch of its 2012 campaign for the third phase of its lakefront cottage community on Mara Lake, B.C. With its lakefront and creekside cabins, Hummingbird Beach Resort is a return to the classic family cabin at the lake. It has been successful by tapping into Canadians love for the cabin at the lake.

The 2012 Royal Lepage Recreational Property report issued May 16, reports that Canadians want three things from a rec property: quiet, four-season use and boating and fishing. Hummingbird at Mara Lake has all three. When asked about the most sought after features of recreational properties, 55 per cent of all respondents ranked "quiet" as the feature they most desire. 38 per cent ranked Four-season use and 25 per cent select boating/fishing. "Hummingbird is unique." says Steele Jordan, developer of Hummingbird Beach Resort, "It has 600 feet of shoreline on Mara Lake and a real lakeside community has developed around the marina, lakefront park, and green common space throughout the resort. It's the classic cabin at the lake most Canadians grew up with."

Hummingbird Beach Resort completed construction of the resort in 2009 and all cabins are available to move into this summer. The final phase includes lakefront cabins, creekside cottage sites and beachfront town homes. Three and four bedroom beachfront townhomes and cabins from 1400 sq. ft. to 2150 sq. ft. range from $760,000 to $929,000. Cabins averaging 1,071 sq. ft. ranging from $419,000 to $468,000 and creekside cottage sites range from $191,000 to $269,000.

Hummingbird Beach Resort is located on Swansea Point, Mara Lake, about 10 minutes south of Sicamous. With a warm climate year round, excellent fishing, skiing and snowboarding, horseback riding, water skiing, house boating and snowmobiling in the winter, Sicamous and Hummingbird Beach Resort offer families a quality alternative.

Jordan continues, "Hummingbird is based on three simple things: the lake, the cabin and family. Some people come up almost every weekend to enjoy all the different recreational activities available including boating, golfing, quading and all winter sports available."
