MARAD Seeks Contractors to Perform Work Aboard the T.S. Freedom Star


PINEY POINT, MD--(Marketwired - November 29, 2016) - The Maritime Administration's (MARAD) Division of Atlantic Operations released on Tuesday, November 29 a presolicitation notice for contractors interested in and capable of performing a work package for the T.S. Freedom Star.

Work includes upgrading the Integrated Shipboard Information System (I.S.I.S.), installing an ECDIS System, replacing the vessel's gyro compass, repairing miscellaneous steel piping, annually calibrating gauges, and replacing the main diesel engine exhaust lagging.

Interested contractors must be able to perform all work at the T.S. Freedom Star, which is located at the Harry Lundeberg Seamanship School at 45353 Saint Georges Avenue, Piney Point, Maryland 20674-0075. Work is scheduled to begin on or around January 20, 2016 and must be completed by no later than March 21, 2017.

MARAD will conduct a pre-quote conference and site visit on the T.S. Freedom Star on Tuesday, December 06, 2016 at 10 a.m. Contractors interested in attending the site visit and/or who have questions, must contact Marine Surveyor Tim McGeein at Timothy.McGeein@dot.gov, or Contracting Officer Monique R. Leake at Monique.Leake@dot.gov by no later than 2 p.m. EST on December 8. Include Solicitation Number DTMA9217Q00006 in the subject line.

MARAD intends to release its full solicitation (Request for Quotation) on or before November 30, 2016.

To receive the contract, contractors must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) database, and have as part of the Registration all current Representations and Certifications.
