Marantz Professional Introduces the New PMD620 Hand-Held Digital Recorder

Small, Powerful and Easy to Use, the PMD620 Offers Professional Recording Options and MP3 Capability

ITASCA, IL--(Marketwire - November 26, 2007) - D&M Professional, manufacturer of Marantz® Professional recording products, introduces the new PMD620 Hand-Held Digital Recorder, a versatile recorder for everything from lectures, interviews, electronic news-gathering (ENG) and electronic field production (EFP) to church services and live music. Marantz Professional has developed the PMD620 to provide advanced functionality and professional recording quality in a small, convenient package for hobbyists and professionals alike.

The PMD620 is Marantz Professional's newest and smallest hand-held portable recorder -- it fits easily in your hand or in your pocket but packs quite a punch for its size. The PMD620 offers direct-to-MP3 recording in three quality settings as well as fully uncompressed, CD-quality WAV format, allowing the user to configure the PMD620 for a wide variety of applications, from extended-length lectures to high-quality music recordings. Functionality is enhanced with the inclusion of two built-in condenser microphones and a number of other input and output options.

The PMD620 also utilizes widely available SD (secure digital) flash memory cards for data storage (sold separately). In addition to being easy to find, SD flash cards are available in various memory capacities.

Throughout its 50-plus-year history, Marantz has had an impressive track record of listening to customers, and the PMD620 is no exception. Incorporating ideas based on user feedback, the new PMD620 sports several new layout features, most notably the straightforward, one-touch recording and illuminated red "Recording In Progress" light. The unit's transport controls will be familiar to iPod users, incorporating a thumb-operated scroll wheel and easy-to-read vivid OLED (organic LED) display screen, which uses less power to illuminate, thus extending the unit's battery life. (The PMD620 is powered by two AA batteries or supplied AC adapter.) These are just a few of the ways in which the PMD620 is the ideal choice across the entire spectrum of portable recording needs.

The PMD620 also offers editing capabilities that place it firmly at the top of its class. Included is the "Copy Segment" editing capability, which uses cut-and-paste-style editing to create a new sound file, leaving the original file intact. Another menu feature, "Skip Back," allows transcribers the ability to review recorded audio from 1 to 60 previous seconds, instantly, at the press of a button. A USB 2.0 port provides fast transfer of files to a PC or Mac.

The front panel "Level" and "Peak" LEDs let the operator always know the status of the input signal. Finally, users can toggle among four display screens that provide elapsed time, time remaining, record settings, and level metering.

Powerful and feature-laden, yet remarkably simple to operate, the new PMD620 is now available at an MSRP of $399.00.
