Marathon Gold Corporation ("Marathon" or the "Company") (TSX: MOZ) is pleased to announce that it has completed its previously announced bought deal prospectus offering of 8,880,000 flow-through shares ("Flow-Through Shares") in the capital of the Company at a price of $0.90 per Flow-Through Share (the "Issue Price") for gross proceeds to the Company of $7,992,000 (the "Offering"). The Offering was conducted by a syndicate of underwriters led by Haywood Securities Inc. and including Beacon Securities Limited, Canaccord Genuity Corp. and Paradigm Capital Inc.
The gross proceeds raised by the Company from the sale of the Flow-Through Shares will be used to incur "Canadian exploration expenses" that qualify as "flow-through mining expenditures" (as such terms are defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada)) on the Company's Valentine Lake Gold Property in Newfoundland (the "Qualifying Expenditures"). The Qualifying Expenditures will be renounced to the subscribers with an effective date no later than December 31, 2016.
