Marathon Technologies Named CRN Emerging Tech Vendor for Bringing World's First Fault-Tolerant, High Availability Software to Server Virtualization

Company Recognized for Filling Market Need for Automated, Innovative and Effective High Availability Software for Virtual Servers

LITTLETON, MA--(Marketwire - July 7, 2008) - Marathon Technologies announced today that it has been selected by Everything Channel as a CRN Emerging Tech vendor for developing everRun VM, the world's first fault-tolerant, high availability software for server virtualization. CRN's Emerging Tech list highlights companies that are delivering high margins for solution providers with innovative and easy-to-use technology that undercuts industry giants. Launched in April 2008, Marathon's everRun VM addresses one of the major factors holding back broader adoption of server virtualization -- a lack of automated and reliable high availability software to reliably protect essential applications such as Microsoft Exchange, SQL and SharePoint in physical and virtual environments.

Marathon has partnered with Citrix®, developer of XenServer™, the dynamic virtualization software platform based on the Xen hypervisor. The combination of the XenServer high-performance, easy-to-use virtualization hypervisor platform with the proven automated availability of Marathon's everRun software enables more enterprises to deploy virtualization across a much broader array of applications. "Being recognized as a 2008 CRN Emerging Tech Vendor validates our commitment to providing our partners with innovative products that address the broad market need for better high availability software," said Gary Phillips, president and CEO of Marathon Technologies. "With everRun software, Marathon and its partners are providing customers with the assurance that critical data, networks and applications will be protected in both physical and virtual server environments."

With more than 300 global partners, Marathon's everRun product family is protecting more than 1,800 customers worldwide in the manufacturing, automation, security, gaming, financial services, healthcare, and media and broadcasting sectors. Its partner program includes independent software vendors (ISVs), original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), value-added resellers, system integrators and consultancy practices committed to helping midsized and larger companies implement availability solutions as part of their business continuity plans. The partner program is designed to develop and enable partners to profitably resell everRun by providing valuable tools, training and resources designed to assist partners to confidently and successfully offer Marathon's software to companies across the globe.

"New and innovative vendor partners can help spur profitable new ideas that solution providers can use to build revenue and customer loyalty, and the CRN Emerging Tech list is where solution providers go to find these vendors," said Robert C. Demarzo, senior vice president and editorial director, Everything Channel editorial.

Final selection to the Emerging Technology list was made at the discretion of the CRN editorial team after a review of the submitted information and conversations with current or targeted partners. Vendors who make the CRN Emerging Tech list must have an established solution provider program and formal guidelines for recruitment. They must demonstrate that its direct sales mix is trending down as evidenced by the company's revenue history, a channel positive or channel neutral strategy for internal sales compensation, and not be a dominant market share player.
