The story behind "MARC BROUSSARD" -- appropriately this unique artist's first self-titled album -- is simple yet eloquent: It's great music, pulled from the heart, crafted impeccably and delivered with the deep emotion that has long marked Broussard as one of the great vocalists of our time. As ever, Broussard achieves a depth in all aspects of his writing and singing through his love for and mastery of tradition. Strong currents of R&B, sanctified church and the many other flavors of his Louisiana bayou home nourish his songs, performed with the able assistance of his crack band, a team of Nashville and Louisiana-based session aces, and producer Jamie Kenney. From the exhilarating drive of its first single, "Only Everything," to the hushed and exultant old-school soul of "Lucky," to the swampy blues that haunts "Eye on the Prize," "MARC BROUSSARD" stands as a lesson in transplanting the seeds of American music into the spirit of today.

"This is as honest as any record I've ever made," he explains. "I wasn't trying to surprise the listener. We just took some of the basic feelings as well as some of the more specific stories surrounding my life and applied them to the lyrics."

"MARC BROUSSARD" follows the acclaimed singer/songwriter's widely praised 2008 Atlantic Records debut, "KEEP COMING BACK." Broussard's third full-length collection, the album featured the hit single/video, "When It's Good (Feat. LeAnn Rimes)" and received beaucoup critical praise upon its release. "Justin T., take note: Marc Broussard is the real blue-eyed, blond, Southern soul singer," wrote Vanity Fair's Lisa Robinson. "He's been compared to Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, and Van Morrison, and his new album, 'KEEP COMING BACK,' features the outstanding 'Real Good Thing.'"

The New York Post declared that "KEEP COMING BACK" "captures (Broussard's) groovy live sound," while the Philadelphia Daily News praised the set in a three-and-a-half starred rave as "one of Broussard's best efforts. It allows him to bend his voice from the raspy blues of swamp rock to the pitch-perfect tenor that dominates most of the tracks."
