Marc Ching, Founder of Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization, Focused on Rescuing and Rehabilitating Severely Abused Animals, Risks His Life to Rescue Dogs From the Dog Meat Trade in China, Korea and Vietnam

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 22, 2016) - Ching embarked on four dangerous rescue missions, visiting dog farms and slaughter houses by posing as a wealthy American dog meat buyer in order to rescue 214 dogs. Many of the dogs died as a result of the torture they endured but the lucky ones were rehabilitated and adopted. 35 dogs rescued from the meat trade were brought to the U.S. This rescue comes at a cost, however; Ching has been forced to his knees, a gun to his head and a machete to his throat in an attempt to save dogs facing imminent torture and death. Ching believes, "When we rescue innocent dogs from unspeakable torture and death, we are in essence, saving ourselves. We all have pasts full of suffering and struggling to become who we are. In that way, I identify with the dogs I rescue. It's so rewarding to do this, the ultimate gift."

Ching rescues the sick, the tortured, the dying and sometimes the dead. "Even on those occasions when the dogs are in such bad shape, they die in the van on the way to the vet. We drive them to the countryside and give them a dignified burial. At least they knew in their last moments that someone cared for them."

"Whether it's a person I helped on the street, a cat I set free, or a dog I cut down from a noose -- that is what makes me better. Through my suffering and my past, the most valuable lesson I learned was that in some way we were all once trapped."

These missions, in addition to local charitable contributions such as donating and preparing several hundred pounds of food for the LA City Animal Shelter and giving 150 gifts to children at a local orphanage, are an outgrowth of the incredible work Marc has done for animals in Los Angeles as the owner of The PetStaurant in Sherman Oaks and the founder of The Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation.
