Marian University at Saint Thomas Health Accepting Applications for Its Accelerated Nursing Program Through April 1

NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwired - Mar 3, 2014) - The first cohort of Marian University at Saint Thomas Health nursing students will begin classes in May. Registration for this first class closes on April 1, 2014. Currently this program does not have a wait list allowing students who meet all pre-requisite courses to begin in their chosen term.

The accelerated nursing program offers those with a bachelor's degree the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through a program that combines online courses and hands-on clinical training.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the registered nursing workforce is the top occupation in terms of job growth through 2020. Marian University at Saint Thomas Health was established to address this need by educating highly-skilled, compassionate professionals to alleviate the nursing shortage in Tennessee as well as reinforce Middle Tennessee's nursing education infrastructure.

"Marian University at Saint Thomas Health offers Tennesseans a proven program that makes pursuing a nursing career possible for those who need more flexibility," said Amy Winters-Sakowicz, director of community and corporate relations for Marian University at Saint Thomas Health. "Because we offer three class starts every year, we are able to accommodate various schedules and needs students may have as they make the decision to go back to school."

Students at Marian University at Saint Thomas Health take online lecture-based courses with Marian University School of Nursing faculty and engage in onsite clinical experiences within the Saint Thomas Health network. The accelerated nursing site is located at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville and includes a nursing resource center where students can practice bedside skills. Marian University and its School of Nursing hold state, regional and national accreditations.
