Marilyn MacLeod of Lee Design Featured in Junior League of Boston Show House and South Boston 'Open Studios'

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - Oct 22, 2012) - Marilyn MacLeod, principal of Lee Design -- an interior and surface design studio that creates distinctive and sophisticated spaces and decorative finishes, is pleased to be participating in two design events this fall -- The Junior League of Boston Show House and the South Boston 'Open Studios.'

The Junior League of Boston's 35th Show House is located at the stately home and grounds of the Potter Estate in Newton, MA and is open now through November 18th. Ms. MacLeod transformed the potter's room into La Petite Fleur, an intimate setting in which to clip and arrange floral bouquets. Inspired by the home's French origins, a Monet inspired mural, painted in blends of warm and cool blues and greens, serves as a peaceful setting for this space. A troweled and crackled plaster acanthus leaf frieze encircles the room at its center like a ribbon. Ms. MacLeod incorporated many natural elements such as hand blown glass, wood, aluminum leaf, silk, sand textured plaster, ceramics, and porcelain. All of the original surfaces are created by hand.

Ms. MacLeod's work will also be showcased in 'South Boston Open Studios 2012' from 12Noon to 6:00PM on Saturday, November 3rd and Sunday, November 4th. Her studio is located in The Distillery, 516 East Second Street, No. 303 in the main building, South Boston. 'Open Studios 2012' features dozens of South Boston artists, welcoming visitors to explore the building and the creative environment where they produce their work. Visitors are given a close look into the artists' creative process. Sponsored by the Boston Open Studios Coalition, this bi-annual event is South Boston's largest, and is free and open to the public.
