Mark Kessler Joins HealthPass as Director of Strategic Initiatives

Veteran New York Business Executive Brings Proven Track Record as Health Insurance Exchange Prepares for Health Reform


NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 7, 2010) -  HealthPass, the New York City-based non-profit commercial health insurance exchange for small employers, today announced the appointment of Mark Kessler to the newly-created position of director of strategic initiatives. Kessler will assist HealthPass strengthen its position in the metropolitan New York City small employer health insurance marketplace and prepare for future health reform initiatives.

Prior to joining HealthPass, Kessler was the vice president of membership and member services at The Business Council of New York State. From 1999 to2007, Kessler held several management positions including interim president & chief executive officer at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, where he played a significant role in securing its position as the preeminent economic development organization in the borough. In partnership with GHI (now Emblem Health), Kessler spent seven years developing Brooklyn HealthWorks, an affordable health insurance product for small businesses in Brooklyn. Kessler also held various positions at other organizations including St. Luke's Life Works, New York Cares and CLEARPOOL Inc.
