Inc. (NASDAQ: XMSR), Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI)
and Countrywide Financial Corp. (NYSE: CFC).
Investors need to be watching Zecotek Photonics Inc. (TSX-V: ZMS) this AM!
Zecotek Photonics is a photonics company that develops high-performance
crystals, photo detectors, medical lasers, optical imaging and 3D display
technologies for commercial applications in the medical diagnostics and
high-tech industry. The company has three distinct operating divisions:
imaging, lasers and 3D display and labs located in Canada, Singapore and
Russia. Zecotek has developed two significant photonic technologies with
the potential to revolutionize the $15 billion medical diagnostics
industry. With core competencies in lasers, optoelectronics and crystal
growth, Zecotek's Singapore Lab is focused on introducing creative laser
solutions to this growing industry. The annual revenue generated by the US
medical laser systems market alone, has more than doubled in the past five
years and reached $2.5 billion in 2006. ZMS has successfully developed a
compact, color 3D display prototype that offers multiple viewers with true
volumetric visualization and exhibit depth and parallax over a wide viewing
angle. The unique applications of photonics continue to emerge. Those which
are established as economically important applications for semiconductor
photonic devices include optical data recording, fiber optic
telecommunications, laser printing (based on xerography), displays, and
optical pumping of high-power lasers. The potential applications of
photonics are virtually unlimited and include chemical synthesis, medical
diagnostics, on-chip data communication, laser defense, and fusion energy
to name several interesting additional examples. Zecotek has a proven track
record of securing licensing agreements with industry leaders. The company
is creating shareholder value by commercializing novel, patented and
patent-pending photonic technologies directly and through strategic
alliances and joint ventures with multinational OEMs, distributors and
other industry leaders. ZMS has partnered with the University of Washington
to develop a proprietary PET/MRI scanning device, which has the potential
to set a new standard in medical imaging. Northrop Grumman has signed a
20-year exclusive agreement to license ZMS' LFS scintillation crystal
material. Zecotek recently announced that it has signed a letter of intent
with Fujikura Ltd. of Japan to negotiate terms of a proposed business
partnership which would feature the manufacture and distribution of certain
technologies and products, including Zecotek's new line of fiber lasers and
a detector block consisting of Zecotek's proprietary solid-state photo
detectors and LFS scintillation crystals. The company is transitioning from
a purely research and development company to commercializing its key
photonics technology. ZMS is poised to become a significant player in the
photonics and medical diagnostics industry! Zecotek Photonics just had
excellent news out in a press release before today's opening bell
announcing that it demonstrates 32" 3D display to industry and engages
Insight Media to advise on their market entry! Investors need to go to the
company's website www.zecotek.com and review its exciting
technology's potential! Investors should be watching this one closely!
Zecotek Photonics Inc. (TSX-V: ZMS) formerly Zecotek Medical Systems Inc.,
today announced it has initiated demonstrations of the 32" commercial
prototype of its proprietary Real-Time 3D2D Display System©, the first 3D
display offering multiple viewers true volumetric visualization while
exhibiting depth and parallax over a wide viewing angle. The
demonstrations have started and are scheduled over the next several weeks
at the Company's Vancouver laboratories for a select group of
representatives of potential industry partners.
Zecotek also announced that it has engaged Insight Media, a leading
publishing and consulting firm focused on the display industry, to provide
advice and guidance on a market entry strategy for the display system.
"We have reached a critical milestone in the commercialization of our 3D
display technology with the 32" prototype," said Dr. A.F. Zerrouk,
Chairman, President, and CEO of Zecotek. "Our system delivers true 3D over
a wide viewing angle, in high resolution color and establishes a new
benchmark in the 3D industry. Our next step is to select strategic
partners in the manufacture and distribution of what we feel is a new and
potentially revolutionary display technology and we look forward to working
with Insight Media to leverage our market position."
Zecotek's Real-Time 3D2D Display System is a novel, proprietary display
system for the visualization of images and data. Based on the
autostereoscopic principle, but with substantial patent pending innovation,
it represents a new generation of 3D displays. The 32" commercial
prototype is designed for multi-user, multi-view with freedom of movement.
It delivers full color, high resolution images in both 3D and 2D mode
(greater than 1024x768), has superior image dynamic range in 2D mode and
the system is compatible with existing applications. Anteryon BV of the
Netherlands produced the key screen component of the 3D display.
"We are very impressed with the high resolution, wide viewing angle and
multi-viewer features of Zecotek's 3D display system," said Geoff
Bertenshaw, Chief Executive Officer of Anteryon. "We are pleased to
contribute to the production of the first commercial prototype in what we
see as a truly breakthrough product. We look forward to building on our
strategic partnership with Zecotek."
About 3D Displays
The introduction of software tools for rendering 3D images, together with
increases in processing power, sparked a revolution in computer imaging in
the mid-1990s. This established a new industry and several new
multi-billion dollar companies emerged. Within a decade the ability to
visualize and manipulate digital media in 3D has become an irreplaceable
tool for medical research, design, engineering, aerospace, architecture,
media, geology and logistics -- in fact in all fields where 3D offers
unmatched utility, novelty, stimulus to creativity and enhancement of
productivity. However while software development and increases in
processing power initiated the 3D revolution, display hardware still lags
behind and the majority of 3D visualization remains a software simulation
in a 2D screen environment.
This lag of hardware development has produced a significant, pent-up demand
for devices which can provide a full 3D volumetric experience, but with the
caveat of also requiring the clarity, integrity, viewing angles and broad
applicability at a competitive price. While there are a number of devices
and screens currently available and in development which claim to provide
3D experience, none fully meet these key requirements. The 3D display
market is predicted to grow to more than US$1 billion by 2010 (iSuppli).
