Marketing Veteran Erika Jolly Brookes Joins Vitrue

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - May 20, 2010) - Technology marketing veteran Erika Jolly Brookes has been named vice president of marketing for Vitrue, the leading social media management company. In this new role, Brookes will oversee all the marketing for the company. Vitrue ( works with brands worldwide to provide technology solutions and platforms for communications across social media networks like Facebook and Twitter.

Most recently, Brookes was with Jungle Disk, a cloud-based backup and file-sharing service, where she served as vice president of sales and marketing. Under her leadership, the company achieved a 250% growth in Q4 and Q1, as a result of an integrated social media and traditional communications strategy and launching a channel strategy targeted at IT resellers. 

Brookes achieved notable success during her tenure at MindSpring Enterprises (eventually becoming EarthLink) from 1995 to 2008. Joining as only the 47th employee at MindSpring, she served numerous roles, including vice president of consumer products and services, and had her hand in virtually every aspect of the company's business as it grew from a few thousand dial-up Internet customers before eventually expanding nationally in 1998. 

When MindSpring merged with EarthLink Networks in 2000, Erika played a critical role as senior marketing executive in charge of brand strategy, growing total awareness to 60% of US HH and EarthLink's base to 4.8M subscribers. From 2004-2006, she oversaw all product, marketing and sales, growing revenue from add-on services by $60M over four years. During her final years at EarthLink she was in charge of all marketing aspects for the company including marketing acquisition, brand management and marketing communications.

She has also held product marketing and product management positions with Sterling Software and Iterated Systems, Inc., from 1991-1995. Erika is involved in a variety of start-up initiatives in Atlanta including Start Up Weekend, Start Up Riot and Start Up Chicks. 

Brookes earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Berry College. She has also completed post-graduate executive level education in the areas of finance and marketing.
