MarketLive Q2 Performance Index Report: Brick & Mortar Cracks e-Commerce Puzzle With 59% Revenue Gain

Mobile Revenue Share Growth Increases 335%; Merchants Should Plan for Mobile This Holiday Season

PETALUMA, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 30, 2014) - MarketLive, the leading Total Commerce platform for high-growth merchants, today announced the results of its Performance Index™ report for Q2 of 2014. The index report signaled a strong retail economy with across-the-board, year-over-year increases in traffic, revenue, conversion, add-to-cart and average order sizes.

Among these positive performance results reported by MarketLive's customers, Brick and Mortar retailers stood out with an impressive 59 percent revenue gain, showing how these 'old-school' merchants have embraced e-commerce and surpassed many of their online peers at their own game. Another highlight was mobile share-of-revenue growing 335 percent faster than it did in Q2, 2013. While total revenues from generated from smartphones and tablets are just below 20 percent of total, that share continues to increase and 39 percent of all e-commerce site traffic comes from shoppers searching on their mobile devices (even if they do not complete their transaction there).

Other highlights from the Q2 Performance Index report include:

  • Total revenue increased by an average of 19.4 percent over Q2 of 2013
  • Site traffic increased an average of 11.1 percent
  • Add-to-cart rates increased 3.6 percent
  • Average order size in Q2 was $117.33, up 5.3 percent
  • Conversion rates increased by 4.7 percent
