Results Show MarketLive Merchants Ahead of the Projected Growth Curve

The quarterly report examines Q1 performance data from more than 100 retail sites.

Although impossible to top the record Q4 2011 results, merchants held their own in the first three months of 2012, building upon the momentum from an impressive holiday season.

First quarter finding include:

1) 20 percent year over year growth in sales
2) 4 percent growth in traffic
3) 12 percent increase in conversion
4) 12 percent increase engagement (add-to-cart rate)
5) 12 percent increase in "1 and out" rate
6) 1 percent decrease in cart abandonment

The increase conversion and engagement rates signal that merchants are making the most of a modest audience growth by successfully targeting potential and return customers with relevant products and offers. The increase in "1 and out," or bounce rate, marks the ninth consecutive quarter of growth in this area and shows that well over a third of visitors now leave sites after viewing just one page.
