ROCKVILLE, MD--(Marketwire - May 18, 2010) -  In the first four months of 2010 there are indications that the global economy is gaining momentum, according to MarketResearch.com, Inc., the world's largest seller of market research reports. Based on trends in market research purchasing, the firm sees reason for "cautious optimism."

"With 80% of the Fortune 1000 buying from us in the past 18 months we see where the world's biggest companies are placing their bets," said Robert Granader, CEO and Founder of the 12-year-old company.

"Interest jumped most dramatically in healthcare-related topics during the first part of the year," Granader said. "Life science research topics in genomics and oncology led the way, but there was also strong interest in healthcare service sectors such as packaging and healthcare IT such as electronic medical records."

There was special interest on the impact of U.S. healthcare reform, according to Bruce Carlson, publisher of Kalorama Information and editor of a new white paper "Healthcare Reform: Winners and Losers."

Strong movers outside the life sciences realm included healthy food ingredient products and weight management topics -- reflecting a return to optimism regarding consumer spending. An increase in interest in Pet Care Services and Supplies also "reflects a positive turn of the economy and businesses' recognition of what consumers might be spending their money on," said Don Montuori, VP of Publishing. 

There was a burst of interest in education topics, as well, especially online learning and distance learning for elementary and secondary education, perhaps reflecting an increase in government funding in education.

"Customers tell us they want to be more optimistic, they're tired of being pessimistic, but the numbers don't suggest a dramatic return, but a more cautious one," Granader said. "We are encouraged by the broad nature of the recovery. But there is still a long way to go."
