Markets Focusing on Tech CEOs

The Bedford Report Provides Analyst Research on Level 3 Communications & AMD

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 20, 2011) - CEOs in the Tech Sector have always garnered headlines -- most market watchers would argue more than in any other sector. The CEO's responsibility in guiding employees and executive officers towards a central objective is of significant importance in the tech sector due to the speed at which innovative products hit the shelves. In the past year, a countless number of technology stocks have been sent plummeting after headlines regarding a company's CEO frightened investors. From sex scandals and health concerns to simple age factors, the exit of a popular CEO can spell trouble to a tech stock. The Bedford Report examines the outlook for companies in the Technology Sector and provides research reports on Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: LVLT) and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE: AMD). Access to the full company reports can be found at:

Earlier this month shares of AMD took a significant hit after the company's CEO Dirk Meyer unexpectedly resigned. Sources claim that Meyer didn't voluntarily resign, but instead was forced out as the board felt he wasn't moving swiftly enough to turn around the company. AMD's official press release asserted the decision was mutual and the company believes a leadership change at this point will speed up its ability to "have significant growth, establish market leadership and generate superior financial returns." AMD appointed Senior Vice President and CFO Thomas Seifert to serve as interim chief executive.

Under President Obama, technology sector CEOs appear to have more political pull than with previous administrations. Late last year the president announced today his intent to appoint Level 3 Communications' Chief Executive Officer, James Crowe, to the position of Chair of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC). Crowe has approximately 25 years of experience in leading companies in various portions of the telecommunications industry.
