MarketStance Updates Commercial Insurance Information Products

MIDDLETOWN, CT--(Marketwire - February 16, 2011) - MarketStance, the leading resource for demographic data and analytical services for the U.S. commercial insurance industry, is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the winter 2011 update to the company's information products. This update from version 10-0 to version 10-1 is in line with MarketStance's goals to continued product enhancement and delivery of accurate market and insurance information.

MarketStance products allow clients to segment the U.S. market by industry classification, location, and business size, and regularly report the information relevant to the insurance industry in terms of exposure, premium, loss, historical growth and forecast growth. This upgrade, version 10-1, is available to all current clients at no charge, and it was made accessible via MarketStance Online reporting applications on February 13, 2011.

The v 10-1 release represents the culmination of thousands of person-hours of effort and integration of dozens of disparate data sources. It provides several key enhancements, including the incorporation of an updated economic forecast, updated workers' compensation sources and methods to produce greatly improved estimates, and more precise exposure and premium estimates for governments. This release leverages 2009 underlying year data and a recent November 2010 economic forecast. MarketStance provides the most accurate and detailed estimation of the domestic commercial lines marketplace with multiple updates annually.

"The version 10-1 upgrade provides tremendous value to all clients, in particular those relying on MarketStance to pinpoint market opportunities in this tough environment," said Eric Price-Glynn, manager, research and analytics for MarketStance. "The MarketStance modeling and underwriting staff went the extra mile that our clients have come to expect by bringing more of the nuances of the workers' comp market into our estimation routines and integrating new data sources and techniques to handle difficult to estimate segments such as public entities and professional employer organizations."

Despite the continued year-over-year decline in carrier-written and alternative market premium, MarketStance version 10-1 data helps carriers find pockets of opportunity. Combined with MarketStance's 2010-2011 and 2012-2013 growth forecasts, it is possible to define the classes, geographies and segments poised to lead the recovery.
