Marketwire Acquires Collegiate Presswire

Marketwire Acquires Leading U.S. Provider of News Distribution and Related PR Services to College Print and Broadcast Media

LOS ANGELES, CA and CLIFTON, NJ--(Marketwire - August 30, 2007) - Marketwire, a full-service newswire and communications workflow solutions provider, today announced an agreement to acquire Collegiate Presswire, a leading provider of electronic content and services to college and university print and broadcast media. The acquisition supports Marketwire's expansion strategy and reinforces the company's commitment to provide the best distribution options to PR, IR and corporate communications professionals including those looking to reach colleges and universities in North America.

Collegiate Presswire carries press releases, media alerts, photos and ready-to-run content from companies, agencies and organizations to more than 1,100 college media outlets, higher education trade publications, leading news websites and the largest information databases.

"As we continue to grow our presence as an integrated, full-service North American newswire, making the depth and breadth of Collegiate Presswire's reach available to our clients was a natural fit," said Thom Brodeur, senior vice president, global strategy and development for Marketwire. "Combining Collegiate Presswire with Marketwire's proprietary university distribution circuits will provide our clients with unprecedented reach to more than 2,200 North American colleges and universities, while adding a trusted service that hundreds of companies rely on for communicating their news to the growing and ever-important college market."

New Jersey entrepreneurs Matthew Farlie and Lisa Bannerot developed Collegiate Presswire in 1998. Farlie will join Marketwire as product manager for the company's monitoring and reporting solutions, and Bannerot will work with Marketwire to integrate Collegiate Presswire and Marketwire's college and university distribution offerings. Both will report to Brodeur.

"This is an exciting time for the company and our clients," Farlie said. "Becoming part of Marketwire not only reinforces for the market that we've built a strong specialty news distribution brand and a great reputation with college and university media, but it also signals the growing demand for our services across the continent."

In addition to its distribution platform to print and broadcast college media, Collegiate Presswire's services include CP NewsLink, an online press conference product that allows student journalists to interact with newsmakers in a moderated, online forum, and PressWatch, a proprietary, electronic media monitoring system that provides tracking and reporting of client keywords, brand names or story clips in more than 200 online campus newspapers.
