Marketwire and IABC Partner to Foster Communication Excellence and Greater Global Collaboration

Partnership Includes Sponsorship of "Conversations with CEOs" and "Online Mass Collaboration" Research Foundation Studies, and Development of Social Media and Corporate Communication Knowledge Resources

TORONTO and SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 27, 2010) -  Marketwire and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) announce an expansive partnership that will see the two organizations collaborate on IABC Research Foundation studies, social media and multimedia content, and professional development events throughout 2011. Communication practitioners around the world will benefit from groundbreaking research and educational content that will help them to think strategically about communication and build better relationships with their stakeholders.

Marketwire and IABC will work together on a variety of initiatives to promote knowledge sharing, education and excellence in communication so that professionals can better understand the changing world in which they practice, and better measure and clarify the value of communication in meeting organizational objectives.

Highlights from the 2010/2011 partnership include:

  • "Conversations with CEOs: The communication function in modern organizations." This study, conducted by the IABC Research Foundation, will focus on the role of communication in business or organizational success, as seen through the eyes of CEOs. Issues to be examined include: the skills needed to assume the role of communicator; the communications needs identified by organizational leaders and their communication staffs; and the skills required of leaders to be effective as communicators and as heads of organizations.

  • "Online Mass Collaboration: A developing communication practice." This study, also conducted by the IABC Research Foundation, will explore the rapidly developing technology that allows thousands and perhaps millions of individuals to collaborate in online platforms. Knowledge from this study will allow communication leaders and professionals to better understand the benefits of online mass collaboration systems and how communication practices can enhance the effectiveness of these technologies.

  • Professional development events and conferences. Case studies, expert insight and best practices in communication will be highlighted during IABC's hands-on educational events and conferences:

  • Global trends report. Using the resources of Sysomos, a Marketwire company, this in-depth report on global conversations, trends and issues affecting IABC's membership will be produced and shared in 2011.

  • Knowledge-sharing resources. In support of the "Conversations with CEOs" and "Online Mass Collaboration" studies, Marketwire and IABC will co-develop shared multimedia and social media resources, including interviews with participating CEOs, industry experts and thought leaders.
