CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Feb. 9, 2016) - Calling all aspiring fashion designers! Marlborough Mall is hosting the ultimate style showdown to kick-off its annual GownTown initiative. Selected students will have the opportunity to redesign a gently-worn graduation dress from the GownTown collection for the chance to win $5,000 towards their post-secondary education.
Graduating students from high schools across Calgary will have until February 29 to enter the contest. Selected participants will have from March 5 to April 2 to transform their gown into the Grad dress of their dreams or the dreams of a fellow graduate. From April 3 to April 16, all redesigned dresses will be on display in Marlborough Mall, where shoppers can vote for their favourite dress transformation either by ballot at Customer Service or using #mbmwins. The winner will be announced at GownTown on April 17 and will receive $5,000 to jump start their post-secondary education.

Marlborough Mall's ninth annual GownTown event will be held on April 17, 2016, from 10 a.m. to noon. The event calls on Calgarians to donate gently used dresses to ensure all students, regardless of their financial situation, can purchase the perfect prom dress for just $10. Dresses can be dropped off at Marlborough Mall's customer service desk between February 8 and April 15.
